Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American dancer, actress and vocalist since the mid 1990s. Her first roles on Broadway include in the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. Her performance in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Annaleigh has been collaborating on projects with award-winning directors as well as actors and producers throughout the course of her professional career. Ashford is scheduled to be in the role of Kumail Nanjiani, on Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It premieres on the 22nd of November. Ashford currently works on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film will be released as an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford will be returning in 2023 and will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will form the team of creators for the show. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as well as other main actors into the very first impeachment proceedings in America for more than a century. She was in two seasons of the hit CBS comedy B Positive. It was produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie on You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Other Broadway roles for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren In Kinky Boots. For this performance she received the Tony Award nomination. Ashford is from the city of Denver native who now divides his time in Los Angeles.
